Apple Picking- Beak and Skiff

Right before school started we were able to get in a last minute trip to the apple orchard to pick apples. Usually, we end up going with the 8,000 other people that decide "oh, it's a nice fall weekend to go apple picking, let's go!"....but this year, we decided differently. When Beak and Skiff started advertising their apples, we packed up the car and kids, and went picking. What a difference! There were no lines, no huge groups of people needed to be dodged, and an endless amount of apples on the trees. It was fantastic. Not to mention Beak and Skiff had quite the make-over this year. The new facility is absolutely beautiful. It's bright, spacious and organized. It was hard for me to stop taking pictures to actually pick an apple or two....but I managed to help a bit....14lbs of apples later and we were headed home ready to make some pies,...four to be exact...and boy were they delicious.

After a rough morning of picking apples, we took the girls to one of our favorite low-key restaurants,... Boom Boom Mex Mex, a secret little Mexican gem in Syracuse. If you haven't tried it yet, you should...it's good,...especially after a day of picking apples.

First Day of Kindergarten!

Well the day finally arrived,...McKenzie's first day of Kindergarten. After all the anticipated tears (by me, not her) and preparation, she woke up excited, and ready to conquer the world.  As she got dressed, she asked a million and one times if it was time to walk to the bus stop,....and after multiple "no it's not time yet",....it was finally time. The entire family (including Mac) walked her down to the bus stop to watch our little girl step into a new world. I "only" took approximately 93 pictures of this monumental day...but am sharing only my favorites....enjoy!
